What this service is

Sequencings is an informational and educational tool that reads consumer DNA files in your own browser and presents published research about the variants it finds. It is not a medical device, not a clinical laboratory, not a diagnostic service, and not a substitute for professional advice. See the medical disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.

Using it

You may use Sequencings to analyse a DNA file that is your own, or one you have the clear permission of the tested person to analyse. Analysing somebody else’s genetic data without their knowledge is a serious thing to do and in some jurisdictions an unlawful one. Do not do it here.

You may not attempt to circumvent the licensing, redistribute the marker panel or reference data, scrape the site systematically, or present its output as a clinical result.

Accuracy

Considerable care goes into this panel: coordinates and allele pairs are verified against reference databases, directions of effect are checked against protein consequences or population frequencies, and markers that cannot be oriented reliably are declined rather than guessed. The method is published in full on the method page.

Even so, the input is a consumer genotyping file produced by a third party and not by us. Those files contain errors. Published research is revised. Our own interpretations may contain mistakes. Results are provided as they are, without any warranty that they are accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose, and you should not rely on them as if they were a clinical test. If you think something is wrong, tell us.

Payment

The full report costs $39.00 as a single payment and includes 12 months of updates to the panel. It is not a subscription and it does not renew. Payment is handled by Stripe under their terms. Refunds are described on the refunds page.

Your key is delivered by email. Because we deliberately keep no database linking keys to people, keep that email. If you lose it, contact us with the email address you paid with and we will recover it from the payment record.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Sequencings is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this site, and our total liability in connection with it is limited to the amount you paid us. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
